A newly renovated 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom end of terrace cottage for 6. Three pretty bedrooms are arranged on separate floors providing the master bedroom with open views over elegant Widcombe and Bath. The fresh bright living area opens onto a walled courtyard garden for alfresco wining and dining.

Crescent Cottage

Dating to the 1700’s, this traditional Bath Stone cottage started life as an 18th century pub called “The New Inn”. Redeveloped in 2017 the home now combines the best of modern convenience with pretty cottage charm. Contemporary oak doors, underfloor heating, honed stone floors and elegant sash windows now define this stylish cottage. Beside the entrance, the newly fitted shaker-style kitchen has crisp white moulded work surfaces and plenty of white crockery and glassware. There is a 4-ring gas hob, electric oven, microwave, under-counter fridge, separate under-counter freezer and a dishwasher. A rustic table seats 6 on 3 chairs and a bench.

Three oak steps lead down to a large contemporary jewel-bright living area with light pouring in from a glazed roof lantern and bi-folding south-facing patio doors. There are two leather sofas to seat 5 and a tapestry-style easy chair. A wall-mounted internet-enabled TV is neatly recessed and a storage cupboard under has Infinity Fibre broadband Wi-Fi and DVD player. In fine weather, the long glazed doors can be pulled back for optimum enjoyment of a little walled courtyard garden planted with mature shrubs and climbers with a Barbecue. There is a bench to catch the sun, an outdoor table and chairs with views of surrounding Bath stone terraces.

On the first floor is a spacious and elegant bedroom in mustard and grey with an upholstered 5’ bed. There is a large ash chest of drawers, a hanging rail, an easy chair and lamp. Shuttered windows reveal a lovely city view down the hill featuring the Bath Abbey. Adjacent is a contemporary under-floor heated bathroom crisply tiled in stone, with a small double-ended bath, a large walk-in shower, a hand-basin with storage under and a WC.

Another flight of stairs takes you to the top of the building, ending in a taupe and lime green bedroom under the eaves with restricted headroom to the sides. There are two 3’ single beds, a chest of drawers and an alcove with hanging rail. Two further alcoves have LED lighting and in common with the other bedrooms, power sockets with USB charging points for mobile phones.

Private stairs lead down from the ground floor directly into a large double underfloor heated bedroom at lower ground floor level with shuttered windows. There are two 3’ single beds that “zip & link” to become a 6’double, a large ash chest of drawers and a wardrobe with shelf space placed in an alcove. Headroom is restricted at one end of the room by the stairs, which have been thoughtfully framed with a glass panel for a lighter, airier feel. There is a welcoming en-suite shower-room with a fully tiled walk-in shower, a hand basin and WC with oak shelf for toiletries. Double doors conceal a laundry cupboard with a washing machine combined with dryer, iron and further utility items.

The property comes with a parking permit allowing you to park one car on the street. Alternatively the Bath Spa Train Station and Bus Station are a 10-minute walk away.

The property is located on the South side of the city in a gorgeous area called Widcombe. You have the benefit of feeling you are in the country with only a ten-minute stroll into the city of Bath. At the bottom of Widcombe Hill you have local facilities including a bustling deli, newsagent, supermarket, chemist, a couple of coffee shops, hairdressers, florists, several pubs, Indian, Chinese and American takeaways. The White Hart gastro pub has developed an excellent reputation for good, locally sourced foods and has alfresco dining in its pretty walled garden. Behind The White Hart, Widcombe’s own Gin Distillery sells produce made on the premises. Take a stroll along the Kennet & Avon Canal to visit the Ice Cream Shed (Spring & Summer opening) and look out for Kingfishers on the opposite side of the canal.

Bath is a city best explored on foot to appreciate its Georgian architecture and vibrant street culture. Crescent Cottage is perfectly positioned to enable you to leave the car behind and walk over a footbridge to the train station and the start of the city which has many historic sites and museums and galleries, as well as great shops, bars and restaurants. If needed, you can catch the 20C bus back up the hill from the central Bath bus stop by the Weir. After all the activity, pamper yourselves in the piping hot pools of the Thermae Spa, or enjoy a night at The Theatre Royal or Komedia Comedy Club.

If you want to take a break from the city, there is much to explore from the house. Close by on Church St is the tiny and atmospheric church of St Thomas a Becket built between 1490 and 1498 over a Norman church with even older Saxon origins. This tiny settlement was mentioned in the Doomsday survey of 1086. Further along is Widcombe Manor a fabulous Grade I listed private manor built in 1656, visited by the rich and famous. Continue walking past St Thomas a Becket church to one of two entrances to the National Trust owned Prior Park Gardens, with a Palladian bridge created in the 18th century by local architect and entrepreneur Ralph Allen with advice from Capability Brown. From here there are fabulous views of Bath and a five-minute walk leads to the Bath Skyline Walk, a six mile circular route encompassing pretty woodlands, meadows, an Iron Age hill fort, Roman settlements, 18th century follies and more spectacular views.

You can walk or cycle (bike hire available locally) along the spectacular Kennet & Avon Canal to the interesting Saxon Town of Bradford on Avon (12 miles) which boasts a 12th Century Tithe Barn with craft shops and traditional tea rooms (and take a train back to Bath). The quintessentially English Village of Castle Combe, reputed to be the prettiest village in England, is a scenic drive of 13 miles. A similar distance away is Lacock Abbey (National Trust) which hosted the filming of Harry Potter scenes in its intriguing ancient walls and where further opportunities for ice creams and the perfect English Cream Tea can be found. If you want to walk in the footsteps of your Neolithic ancestors, The Stone Henge Visitor Centre lies 25 miles away.

Testimonials

Had an amazing stay at this lovely property. Great location with an easy walk into central Bath. The home has been done to a high standard, with a nice garden/patio and room for a family of five
Crescent Cottage Mark - 2019-08-02
“Great communication with host, amazing house, spotless and exactly as pictured. Location was perfect for family of 5 spending three days in Bath.”
Crescent Cottage Ian - 2019-08-01
“This is a great place. Spacious for 6 people with 2 full baths. Two people have absolute privacy in the basement. There is an amazing winter garden and a cool porch to sit outside. The walk to town is easy, even though it is uphill on the way back. Bath is a wonderful place and if you have a car the Cotswold and Hidicote Gardens are only an hour away. Or favorite place to stay on out 10 day vacation.”
Crescent Cottage Martina - 2019-06-24
“Crescent Cottage was a comfortable, stylish property to call home for our week in Bath! My family of 5 was right at home. The surrounding neighborhood is charming, and the walk into Bath was easy (and provided a good workout with the hill!). All questions and issues were promptly handled, and we would stay here again in a heartbeat. The kitchen is well equipped, and the bedrooms were perfect. I highly recommend booking Crescent Cottage for your visit to Bath!”
Crescent Cottage Sandra - 2019-06-19

Beautifully presented & great location to town

Crescent Cottage Kate - 2019-02-17
“Me and my 4 girlfriends all agreed this was one of the best air bnbs we have stayed in. Looks exactly like it did it in the picture, addition of mood lighting in the lounge made for a very stylish stay with all the things we could need for a weekend retreat. We completely under estimated how busy Bath gets around the time of the Christmas markets (although we’re forewarned by Alexa), so stayed in on Saturday night, but loved it as we got to make the more of the house. Highly recommended, would love to return one day.”
Crescent Cottage Vicky - 2018-12-06
“Such a beautiful place to stay, perfect location to the town (only a short 10min walk). The house highly exeeded our expectations in terms of cleanliness and there were lots of added extras that were lovely supprises such as built in bluetooth speakers in the bathroom!! We will definately be revisiting very soon!”
Crescent Cottage Harriet - 2018-10-11
Wonderful stay in this beautiful home! We will definately be revisiting again very soon. The perfect place to spend my boyfriends birthday weekend.
Crescent Cottage Kati & Phil - 2018-09-28
We had a lovely weekend stay for a school reunion - we all travelled some distance to get here including from France and and Canada. The only problem was the rain on Saturday. Bath was a great place to visit - so much to see and do.
Crescent Cottage Cambridge Grammar School girls 1966-73 - 2018-09-23
A lovely stay in this fab little cottage, perfect for the weekend. Thank you so much!
Crescent Cottage Jemima & friends - 2018-09-09
A gorgeous place to stay with family or friends. A quick walk into town...but you may want to take a taxi back, as it’s up a bit of a steep hill. We all had a wonderful time staying here. I highly recommend this place for your next visit to Bath!
Crescent Cottage Alisha - 2018-08-26

What a super place to stay. We have had a lovely short stay in Bath and a chance to recharge our batteries. So comfortable. We have been coming to Bath for 5 years and this is our favourite accommodation so far.
Crescent Cottage Claire, Tracey, Katie and Rachel - 2018-02-20
Great house - all good sized rooms and nicely decorated. Great location - 5 minutes walk to Bath station and 10 minutes to the center of Bath. Host very responsive and accomodating. Would stay here again.
Crescent Cottage Hannah - 2018-01-09
A lovely week in this comfortable and stylish house. So nice to arrive and find a Christmas tree here for us! Enjoyed the sense of space and lots of natural light in the lounge with the view of the lovely courtyard. Very cosy too.

We've enjoyed exploring Bath as well as seeing family over Christmas. Must come back in the summer when we can fling open the glass doors and eat outside.
Crescent Cottage Leila, Ed & Sid - 2017-12-29
This was the perfect place to take some of my employees to say thank you for their hard work. The location halfway between beautiful countryside and the centre of bath was really perfect and the house itself was refurbed to a very high standard. We stayed for only two nights, but in the future if we’re fortunate to stay for longer, the property has everything you need for a proper holiday. Very impressed all round.

Thank you bath holiday rentals!
Crescent Cottage Giles - 2017-12-11
Came to Bath for the Xmas markets and stayed in this beautiful house for the 2 nights. We all loved the house and the spacial extras of underfloor heating, mood lighting and tastful pieces of art decor... in fact we all want to move here!

Will definately be coming back, maybe in the summer when we can use the garden too - just love this place.
Crescent Cottage Laura & Co - 2017-12-04

Luxury sheets, fluffy towels, warm, cosy and immaculate.

Will definitely recommend

Thank you Bath Holiday Rentals!
Crescent Cottage Kate, Natalie, Cheryl, Sarah & Chel - 2017-11-17
We were a party of 6 family members staying in Bath for a 3 day catch up. Crescent Cottage was without doubt the best holiday rental we have ever experienced from the efficient booking system to the quality of the accommodation and equipment provided. The welcome pack, especially the bottle of wine, was much appreciated. As it was November we were unable to take advantage of the wonderful outdoor space, but can imagine it would be such an asset in summer. It was also very convenient for exploring the magnificent sights of Bath.
Crescent Cottage Sheila - 2017-11-13
We had a wonderful weekend. Crescent Cottage was a fabulous location and the house itself was perfect for 5 ladies.
We will definitely book again. Really helpful people especially you Alexa.
Thanks again
Crescent Cottage Val - 2017-11-10

Crescent Cottage Crawford family - 2017-09-25
We have had a wonderful 17 days both in Bath and this lovely home. Had everything we needed and we were happy to have lots of family visit us from Scotland while we were here.
Enjoyed Bath so much that we are seriously thinking of a move from Hot !Scottsdale arizona. A great trip.
Crescent Cottage Queen Family - 2017-09-09
We have been 15 days in this beautiful house with our 3 little kids (8 yr, 5yf and 1 yr).
We cannot imagine a gbetter place to be during our summer stay at Bath. The two older kids went to Kings Camp summer camp at Prior park and we did some tourism with the little one around Bath.
Thank you for letting us to enjoy your lovely house where we all have felt like at home while far away from it. Hope we can come back again.
Crescent Cottage Diaz Family - 2017-08-14
Beautiful, cosy, very well located to visit Bath What a beautiful cottage ! Modern Decor throughout with all mod cons , it was just what we wanted . Bath centre is a short stroll away and there are shops located within 3 minutes walking . We will be returning in the near future . Bath rentals were really helpful and most welcoming upon our arrival . Thank you!
Crescent Cottage Antonio - 2017-07-30
Beautiful home on a good location It is a small 3 bedroom apartment, but very well equipped and with good (firm) beds and bathrooms. The refrigerator under the counter is a bit small. The extended living room next to the kitchen is very nice and can open up to a good sized backyard. The house has parking in front for 1 car and walking to the town centre takes only 5-10 minutes. As a family of 5, with three teenagers, we really enjoyed it and had a great week staying here and using this as our hub to discover Bath, the Cotswolds and the SW of England. We recommend this place.
Crescent Cottage Martin - 2017-07-26
Our American -French family enjoyed very much our visit to Bath. The house was charming and wish to have benefitted more from all its features, but our time was split with trips to bristol, wells, longleat, winchester, stonehenge and places in between. We shall definately contact you for future visits.
Crescent Cottage Family Bateh - 2017-07-19
I am happy to report that we had a great stay and thought the location, set up and contents of the property were excellent. We left a positive comment in the visitor book too. We used ‘yourparkingspace.com’ to find a spot at Tyning End for an extra car which was good value and convenient.
Crescent Cottage Vivienne - 2017-06-06
Our stay here in Bath was short but we loved every minute of it! It was our first visit to the UK as a family. The home is perfect - so close to town and Alexandria park. We also loved having recommendations of places to eat - we tried Yak Yeti Yak and loved it! The kids enjoyed sitting on cushions on the floor. Thanks for helping make our stay in Bah a memorable and enjoyable one.
Crescent Cottage The Edwards family - 2017-06-02
A fabulous house in a perfect situation. We made good use of the garden and it was fabulous in the evenings to open the bi-folding doors. A very special house and everything had been thought of. We shall certainly return next time we come to Bath. Thank you!
Crescent Cottage Sholes, Raimbanx and Sharp - 2017-05-29

“The Perfect cottage! Every single thing had been thought about. Very recommend!”
Crescent Cottage Ofer - 2017-04-13
Very well appointed house, easy walk to the city centre, very comfortable for people, lovely small outside space. Suited the 6 of us really well. Very well appointed. Loved all the small details in the decor. Wine and chocolate a very nice touch. Excellent communication from hosts - great place to stay in Bath. Have already recommended you to friends. Thank you very much.

Crescent Cottage Sarah - 2017-04-10
Crescent Cottage has been refurbished to a very high standard and with a lot of care. It is very comfortable and we loved the large glass doors out to the patio area which makes a lovely sitting out area in the summer. It is just up the road from a really good pub “The White Hart” which serves excellent food which we enjoyed. We would recommend this cosy cottage to anyone as a base to explore Bath.
Crescent Cottage Ruth - 2017-03-30
